Spring on Lord Howe Island brings new life, fresh energy – and for Capella Lodge, a whole new chapter. After a cool-season closure, we’re thrilled to reopen our island home and welcome our first guests back to experience Capella’s refreshed spaces, just in time for the beauty of spring and summer.

A Fond Farewell

Before we share the latest updates, we have some very special news. After nearly 23 years leading Capella with warmth, dedication and true island spirit, our beloved lodge managers, Libby Grant and Mark McKillop, have retired.

From the moment Capella first opened its doors in 2003 as the inaugural Baillie Lodge, Libby and Mark have been its heart and soul. They nurtured the lodge as if it were their own, creating a home-away-from-home where guests returned year after year. Their legacy is woven into every corner of Capella, and we’re deeply grateful for the love and care they’ve given over the years. Happily, Libby and Mark have promised to return for cameo appearances – so you may yet see their familiar smiles again.
